The problem with Netflix

Monday, September 19th, 2005

The problem with Netflix is that I want to see too many movies. I currently have 30 movies in my Netflix Queue, but I want to see #30 as much as I want to see #1. I could spend all day reading recomendations and reviews, and reordering my queue, but the basic problem would still remain. Oh well, “Donnie Darko” is next, and it should be good.

I must say that despite my trivial complaint, which is really against myself, that Netflix is really cool. I have watched a number of foreign films that I otherwise would not have had access to, I highly recommend it. Besides, there isn’t anything on television (except for the new season of Lost and The Daily Show).

The Exorcism of Emily Rose

Miss Carousel has a short entry about “The Exorcism of Emily Rose“. It pretty much hits the nail on the head, at least it does in my opinion.

Being John Malkovich

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005

I saw this movie on Saturday. I began watching it while I was sort of tired, so I drifted in and out of conciousness. That was a wierd experience. I did enjoy the movie when I watched it the second time, fully alert. I like stories that delve into how man can fall from grace when handed power. I think this movie was about that, at least it was for me.

Great Movie

Sunday, July 17th, 2005

I saw Wedding Crashers on Saturday with some friends and it was a very good movie. I had everything a romantic comedy needs. The movie was extremely funny, but not too slap-sticky. The romance was not sappy or overdone, it was just right. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone looking for a laugh.

Although I don’t think the site is quite finished, the video is good. I am looking forward to the “The Work of Director Anton Corbijn”

Star Wars

Star Wars, those crazy Star Wars…

So, I went to see Star Wars Episode III last night with a friend, who shall remain anonymous. I was duly impressed. I was let down by episodes I & II, and as such my expectations for episode III were rather low. It turns out that George Lucas can still make a decent movie. Following is a short list of things I would have done differently.

  • More Vader!
  • A better space battle (the battle was anti-climatic)
  • No cheesy love lines
  • A realization that Anakin wasn’t the “Chosen One”

I am sure that this list will grow over time, but for now it will suffice.
