What next, women’s suffrage?
via: Wired News
According to some new research, it turns out that women may indeed be capable of serving in the Armed Forces after all. This is good news, especially since many women are already serving in the Armed Forces. I find it amusing that it took a decade long study to find out that women are just as capable as men, but that they aren’t as strong. People are dumb. I wish they would have asked me that question, I could have saved them an entire decade and I would have done it for half the money.
Of course a properly trained woman is as capable as a properly trained man. Of course a woman can handle the stress of battle, of course a woman has the endurance to walk for miles without rest, and of course a woman can’t pick up as much weight as a man, DUH! There is one little bit from the article that I found particularly amusing, it is in reference to the cessation of menstruation that many women experience when in training:
…others thought the simple act of running hurt the ovaries.
Come one! Are you kidding? People actually think that? I don’t think we (as a species) would have made it off the plains of Africa if running hurt a woman’s ovaries. I would presume that our ancestors did nothing but run, from bigger animals that were trying to eat us, and since I am here, my female ancestors ovaries must have been in fine working order despite all the running.
In my brief military experience, I would say that the only difference between men and women in the military is that men are way too distracted by the women. It seemed that the main problem was with the men, not the women, perhaps another 10 year long study is needed.
